SPECIFICATIONS
:
Up for your consideration is an extremely rare vintage 1940's Red Rocket Sled w/ the infamous P-38 Lightning Plane Decal from WWII.  Some research on the piece turned out to be quite interesting. Supposedly, the sled was desgined to commemorate the P-38 plane used by the U.S. during WWII. This war plane supposedly featured a cutting edge design, technology and function for its time, which was a breakaway from other planes of the time. The plane became known as the hero since it was responsible for shooting down Isoroku Yamamoto who was the Japanese Naval Marshal General responsible for the attacks on Pearl Harbor. Overall, a great unique sled with a cool design - especially the nose and deck, - which is perfect for display (I was thinking above the fireplace in a cabin).

Condition
: Overall, I would consider the sled in very good condition w/ only a few conditional notes. Mainly, there is a chunk of wood missing from the undercarriage that I have captured in pic 6.  There is also some paint loss to the front metal nose.  There is also some rust on the galvanized metal under portion.  The rubber handles are in good condition (no dry rotting) as is the deck which has most of its paint, but does have some minor rubs and scuffs. The decal is in fine condition and still legible.

attempted to clean, fix or restore any portion of the item!
