Please email with any questions. Before there was kite surfing, there was kite skiing. Group of literature from Ken Tibado's Kite Factory, kite and ski school in Lake Wales, Florida. Judging by the photos and five digit phone numbers, I think this group is from the late 1950's or early 1960's. There is a four page folder of photos for constructing a kite, single page sheet of photos showing the "sky skier's" sign language symbols, kite flying instructions and a price list for equipment, 14" by 20" b&w photo print of three ski skiers(folds and creases on the paper). Mr Tibado began performing at Cypress Gardens in the 1940's and began manufacturing kites in the late 1950's. He appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show, the Gary Moore Show, What’s My Line, the Tommy Bartlett Show and ABC’s Wide World of Sports. His kite is on display at the Skiers Hall of Fame.
